Victoria's thought on the 2019 competition are:
"Snowdrops are one of the first flowers we see in the year providing welcome colour and beauty to our gardens and woodlands not to mention a vital food source for early emerging bees and other invertebrates.
From a single flower to large areas of them, from wild to cultivated plants, there are so many possibilities to explore when photographing them beyond a simple image of a snowdrop.
I'll be looking for something a little different that really shows off the beauty of these flowers, from close-ups to in habitat shots."

Shortlisted images will be displayed in one of the festival venues and entrants will be invited to the presentation of prizes, and certificates for all three categories, which will take place on the afternoon of Saturday the 17th February 2018 in Shepton Mallet (venue and time to be confirmed).
All shortlisted participants will be notified in advance. The judges may also award a certificate and prize for best image from an entrant living in the Shepton Mallet area. |
All are welcome to this culmination of the competition and the occasion offers photographers and members of the public the opportunity to meet and enjoy each other’s achievements.
A list of the successful photographers together with their entries will be posted on the Shepton Mallet Snowdrop Festival website immediately after the conclusion of the festival. It is likely that the overall winner will also have their photograph also published in the local media. |
